Ah-ha

My brain is officially back online. I have ideas and stuff. Sound card still malfunctioning. Write on!

  1. I suspect we may be hanging out a bit this summer (with a dozen and a half others). Just thought I'd say hi. Happy Ostara! 🙂

  2. Wow, John, I am liking (make that Liking) your blog! We have to talk about this religion-scifi intersection stuff.

  3. How'd you track down the other folks? I've found maybe one or two potentials. Also, I signed up on the forum, but am not quite sure what to say at this point…

And I'm intrigued by your thoughts on pagan UU ministry. My blogging partner, xJane, would probably call herself a pagan (among other things).

Gah, so much I want to talk about. I feel like I'm in grade school and can't speak in class!

  4. All the contacts are from the forum, including hopefuls I met on the forum last year when I applied the first time. Also, my buddy Scott W. Baker (http://scottwbaker.net/) is a super-sleuth of the Interwebs; he's done a lot to bring people together.

I have loads to say about the topic of ministry, but obviously writing is where my head is at the moment. Have you ever experienced a UU church? It's a pretty mixed bag, which is sometimes a good thing and sometimes not. Real inclusiveness is a loud, messy business.

This is shaping up to be an interesting crew. I'm SO glad to be a part of it. Fast forward through the next two months, I can't wait!

  5. I can't wait to meet the others! Hopefully we can be more open in the next couple of days.

I have a lot of respect for UUs, and they've been political allies in local activism. I've been to UU services a number of times, and a couple of close friends are members. Also took my family once to a UU Pagan meeting and loved it. We've settled on a liberal Quaker meeting. It'll probably be our family's collective spiritual home for some time to come. It's the one place where I can meld my atheism and craving for the numinous and feel kinda at home.

    But yes, inclusiveness is messy!
